A ready-made event for childrenPlay your way

To a better world.

At Retoy, children actively play their way to a better world. The Retoy Party is a ready-made event concept: children swap toys and books with each other, create in Retoy Lab and discover their rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child — all through play.

Where it comes from

Retoy is the multi-award-winning social enterprise Sol founded and co-created, engaging half a million children in circular, rights-based play. It was created for and with children, together with leading businesses, UNICEF, municipalities and foundations — and guided by an advisory board of children.

Many of its activities were developed with children and pedagogues in Rosengård in Malmö, the community where Sol grew up, and which she has always insisted on describing by its richness and its possibilities.

Today Retoy is run and facilitated by Part of More, together with our partners. We bring the materials, methods and trainings — you bring the place, the volunteers and the children.

What’s included in the Retoy Party

1A Retoy welcoming bag with rainbow print and children holding hands

Welcoming bags — every child gets something to swap with

Ahead of the event, children receive a welcoming bag made of recycled PET with a pixi book, a craft sheet about children’s rights and the environment, and an invitation to the toy swap — so every child can take part on equal terms.

2A child checking in a soft toy at a Retoy swap station

The toy swap — check in, play and swap

Children check in their toys and books, collect stamps, and play their way to new favourites. Broken toys and toys containing harmful chemicals are sorted out in a safe and responsible way.

3Children and a pedagogue building inventions from reused materials in Retoy Lab

Retoy Lab — create with imagination

In Retoy Lab, children create new inventions from reused toys, recycled materials and natural materials. All children are also invited to a drawing station where they can draw and learn about the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

A special selection included in this package

The swap area holds a special selection: curated books about children’s rights and the joy of caring for nature and each other, plus fair-trade and ecological toys. This gives children who cannot always afford these kinds of books and toys the chance to swap their way to them.
